Aaron and Mariah met in November of 2021 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Mariah was a nurse's aid on the cardiac telemetry unit where Aaron had just started as a travel nurse. Mariah thought he was cute, and after a rough shift together, after only knowing each other for a few days of working together Aaron jokingly told Mariah he wanted them to move far away to Montana, get married, and get a dog. After a night out with some other work friends in January, and someone playing matchmaker (thanks Kelsey), Aaron asked Mariah out on a date. On February 1st, 2022 Aaron picked Mariah up in the middle of a snowstorm, drove them (in his Chevy cruise that probably shouldn’t have been driving in the snow) and took them to the Denver aquarium where they had their first date. While Aaron had originally only planned to be in Denver for 13 weeks for his travel nurse contract, he always said he would travel around as a nurse until he found someone to settle down with. Well he only made it through one travel contract and the rest is history.

In October of 2025, Mariah and Aaron took a trip to Ireland. It had been raining for the first few days of their trip, so when the sun finally came out on the third day of their trip, Aaron figured this was the perfect opportunity. They had taken the train from Dublin to Galway, and once they got to their hotel, Aaron suggested they go for a walk. They walked to one of the outlooks overlooking the ocean and the famous picturesque colorful houses, and Aaron dropped to a knee, and asked Mariah to marry him.
